Do you have a business? Is it online, store front, or somewhere in between? If you do, then you need to get onto the social media bandwagon. For those of you that are dreading the idea of joining the likes of Facebook and Twitter, I can understand because I was at that exact point a few years ago. The reality is that today, if you want to continue to keep up with the competition, you NEED to start implementing social media strategies. And I bet you are wondering why. I'll tell you why: EVERYONE IN THE WORLD is on some form of social media. If you are not following that trend, then you are losing your edge. You either need to hire someone to do it for you or sit down and learn it!
There are quite a few social media platforms. Twitter and Facebook are the two most essential to every business:
There are a few ways you can grow your audience using Twitter. However, when it comes to successful social media marketing, engagement with a few loyal users is more important than having thousands of followers that don't interact with your content. When it comes to both your audience base and your content, quality should always top quantity. Take the time to focus on your content, and you can increase engagement without having to buy followers or spend hours a day tweeting. On Twitter, learn to be a resource. Besides considering you as an industry resource, users also appreciate reading tweets that tug at their heartstrings, teach them something, or show them something they can pass on to something else. Use these strategies to draw people to your business, brand or message.
Another important social medium, Facebook has different ways to engage the reader/customer and it works slightly different that Twitter. While email is still the easiest and most effective way to convert new customers, the key is having the right people on your list - the ones who want to hear what you have to say and are most likely to buy from you. Thats where Facebook comes in. Your Facebook fans are probably fans because they already like your products or services. That's a great start to finding a narrowly targeted audience that's likely to buy from you. Engage with Facebook fans, capture their email addresses and market to that targeted audience to make sales and partnerships. By engaging with your Facebook fans, you build trust. From there, you can ask your fans to sign up for emails that share information they're interested in. With strong email and marketing tactics, you end up with sales and long-term customers.
These are just two ways to get started today with social media. Connecting it with your business and building an audience takes some time (and some trial and error) but if you start today, you can start investing in the future of your business!
